Love the door! The finish not so muchI bought this door through Lowes and had my builder install. I LOVE the style of the door but the finish left something to be desired. The door arrived and had clearly not cured long enough because the surface was tacky and scratched immediately. I contacted Lowes and they were nice and attempted to get help from the distributor with no luck. We ended up painting the door. Sigh. Buy beware!

Very unsatisfied! We purchased a fiber classic mahogany collection front door for our new build. Upon receiving the door it was unfinished (error in communication with our salesman). The manufacturer refused to accept a return- even just to apply the stain. Fine. We received the stain to do it ourselves (which was a VERY time consuming task and, let's be honest, we are not professionals). But other than personal preference, the door is poorly made. The seams don't come together well, caulking is leaking from the bottom window frame in the side light, most of the finish nails have cracked the quarter round between the frame and side lights, and the J channel trim boards are not welded and pull apart during install. All trim boards are also face nailed and uncaulked leaving ugly nail holes in the face of the door frames. Overall, I can't express how unsatisfied and disappointed we are with this product and the manufacturer refuses to do anything about it.

Not worth the moneyPros: The construction is good. I've had no problems with the side light, door or frame. Good insulating door.
Cons: the stain is peeling like crazy. Not sure how to fix it or even if it can be. This is on both the sidelight and the door itself. If you live in an "all" weather area, I would look to something that can handle the weather.

The door is good with two exceptionsMy contractor bought and installed this for my front door. It's great except for 2 issues. The stain didn't go all the way down into the window surround and each time I approach the door, I can see incomplete stain and white areas. The other issue is the bumps around the window that must be covering screw holes. They stick out and are rough as if they should have been sanded.

Not a good purchaseWe are now in year 5 of our post Sandy rebuild and the most disappointing feature by far is our front door. It has been sub-par standard from day one. The pre-finish is spotty at best, the seal is ineffective and the wear and tear is highly visible. Would not recommend this product. Front doors are supposed to be the sturdy solid protective entrance to your home.

Can't touch up scratches and dingsThe stain on my prefinished Thermatru doors scratched much easier than I thought. When I tried to touch up using SamedDay stain kit it did not work anything like shown on their website. Unless you want to have to refinish the entire door for a few dings and scratches stay away from these doors!!

Stain fades quicklyThree doors that were installed in 2016 all have severe stain fading on the exterior sides. I’ve never seen such a poor finish coming from the manufacturer.
I’m quite sure Thermatru would not be willing to remedy the situation after a few years, but who wants to deal with refinishing fiber exterior doors every couple years?

MehContractor installed this door on a new build. Stain faded and has completely come off the door, now we are going to have to paint it. Window started leaking...Buyer beware.
