THERMA-TRU® GIVES BUILDERS, CONSUMERS NEW OPTIONS FOR CREATING AFFORDABLE, FIRE-RESISTANT ENTRYWAYS
Smooth-Star® Adds 2-Panel Arch and 4-Panel, Embossed Styles
MAUMEE, OH (January 11, 2006) — Most homeowners want a door that provides long-lasting performance, security and energy efficiency. Therma-Tru® Doors' Smooth-Star® fiberglass doors are built to handle day-to-day traffic and won't dent, ding or rust like steel doors. The doors also help builders create individual style in their homes with panel and embossing selections that bring customized style and protection to the front of the home.
Therma-Tru is adding new styles to its popular Smooth-Star line. A 6'8" 2-panel soft arch will be offered in 2'8" and 3'0" widths, as well as 2'6" for narrower entryways. In addition, a 6'8" 4-panel in 2'8" and 3'0" widths will be on the market soon. Both doors are available as 20-minute positive pressure fire doors. These new door styles are ideal for builders of moderately-priced homes and value-conscious homeowners.
Smooth-Star door systems offer ready-to-paint surfaces that resist dents and rust and provide greater curb appeal than steel doors. The smooth surface, sharp lines and crisp detailing help assure a beautiful entryway. The door systems come with a full system 20-year limited warranty.
All the components of a Therma-Tru door are designed, engineered and manufactured to work together trouble-free, while providing the utmost in weather-resistance and security. The optional Multi-Point Locking System secures the door to the frame in three places, adding security and strength to any Therma-Tru entry door system. In addition, the CFC-free solid polyurethane foam core provides high insulation value for added energy efficiency.
"Today's builders face a constant challenge of balancing style and affordability for the homes they build," said John Kufner, General Manager, Entry Door Systems, for Therma-Tru Doors. "Therma-Tru's new panel designs combine both these characteristics and provide outstanding performance. A beautiful entryway can be a home's most expressive feature and add curb appeal."
Therma-Tru's National Home Valuation Study offers proof that a more attractive front entrance can considerably increase the perceived market value of a home. The study, commissioned by Therma-Tru Doors and conducted by independent research organization TNS found that an enhanced entryway can add as much as $24,000 to a home's perceived value. The added value was as much as five times the cost of the entry system.
The study also found that moderately priced homes benefit from entryway updates just as much as their upscale brethren. The new study shows that an upgraded entryway can increase the perceived value of a home in the under $200,000 price range by $7,720, or 4.1 percent.
