BUILDERS CROSS THRESHOLD TO SUCCESS WITH THERMA-TRU DOORS SUPPORT PROGRAMS

MAUMEE, Ohio (January 13, 2005) – Builders have already made Therma-Tru Doors the most preferred brand of entry doors, and now the entry system leader is introducing new programs to help builders grow their businesses.

"We offer more than just a beautiful door," said Greg Gurley, Vice President, Wholesale Distribution Business, Therma-Tru Doors. "We have always worked closely with builders to help them reduce callbacks, improve performance and increase home values by converting to fiberglass door systems. Now, we have created new resources to help builders customize their home developments, build their model homes, and effectively sell Therma-Tru entry and patio door systems to homeowners."

"The trend toward multi-point locks started in Europe, where greater housing density demands more security," said Jeff Shilakis, President of Hoppe North America, which manufacturers the innovative multi-point locking system in Ft. Atkinson, Wis. "Police recommend a lock that connects at more than one point, and the multi-point lock takes that a step further. And, with today's taller doors, the multi-point lock provides a better seal and reduces air infiltration."

Open the Door to Value with Model Home Program

Therma-Tru's Model Home Program, offered through its distributors and dealers, helps builders sell fiberglass door systems and showcase upgrade options for their customers. All fiberglass exterior doors, from entryways to patios, are eligible for the program, and all of Therma-Tru's popular door systems, including Classic-Craft® as well as the Fiber-Classic® and Smooth-Star® entry and patio systems, qualify for the allowances with territory manager and distributor approval.

Fiber-Classic and Smooth-Star Sliding Patio Door Systems and the PDF™ Fiberglass Hinged Patio Door System have been added to this program for 2005.

"Homeowners want beautiful, high-performance doors, but they also want doors that provide security against break-ins," said John Kufner, Product Line General Manager, Entry Door Systems, for Therma-Tru Doors. "The multi-point locking system for residential door systems increases the overall security and performance of our door offerings. As the industry leader, we are committed to offering more than just beautiful doors. We are focused on developing new products and components that improve performance and safety for builders, remodelers, contractors and homeowners."

New Builder Brochure Offers Customized Appeal

In today's competitive marketplace, builders need customized materials that demonstrate their commitment to beautiful, quality construction. Therma-Tru is helping builders meet that need with a new customized brochure that features the builders'photography and logo on the cover with detailed product information and pricing inside. Available in four-, eight- and 12-page options, the customized brochures allow builders to showcase entry products and options for their market and maximize their upsell potential with customers.

"The multi-point locks have really become a hot seller," said Mike Zins, Outside Contractor Sales Manager for Gillman Lumber in Batesville, Ind. "Homeowners like it for its looks and for the added safety. Contractors like it because it is a margin-building upsell option that makes their customers feel more secure. One contractor is using the multi-point lock on a 500-unit retirement complex in Cincinnati, and another is putting it in his own home."

Door Displays and Promotions

From January 4, 2005, through March 4, 2005, Therma-Tru will be running an entry door display promotion for products that include the new Classic-Craft® Rustic Collection™ 6'8" door and select doors from the Smooth-Star and Fiber-Classic lines. Simultaneously, a patio door display promotion will be taking place for the Fiber-Classic and Smooth-Star Sliding and Hinged Patio Door Systems and PDF Fiberglass Hinged Patio Door System.

New entry door displays include the new Classic-Craft Mahogany Collection™ Nine-Panel Door with Arcadia glass, Classic-Craft Rustic 6'8" Four-Panel Door, and new Keystone and Starlite® glass styles for the Fiber-Classic and Smooth-Star fiberglass entry door systems. New patio door system displays and signage include the Fiber-Classic and Smooth-Star Hinged lines, Slim-Line sliding patio doors and the patio door display stand.

New patio merchandising includes the patio attaché case, multi-point locking system finish samples and the Fiber-Classic and Smooth-Star Hinged Patio Door countertops.

Design Elegant Entryways with the Door Design System

One of the biggest challenges in selling upgrade options is helping homebuyers visualize how the options will look when installed. Therma-Tru's revolutionary Door Designer provides a solution with a click of a button. Available at www.thermatru.com and on CD-ROM, the Therma-Tru Door Designer offers thousands of door style combinations, colors, decorative glass options, sidelites and transoms so homebuyers can select the look that meets their needs.

New Home Technologies, Inc. (NHT), a consortium of homebuilders and suppliers including Therma-Tru, is dedicated to improving design options management for the entire homebuilding industry. The organization is developing Envision, a complete suite of online options management tools to educate consumers on product and the value proposition of upgrades before they visit the builder's design center. The Envision product will launch early 2005.

Therma-Tru Cracks the Code on Florida Construction

Builders with projects in Florida know how complex the state's building codes and requirements can be. Therma-Tru helps builders and contractors navigate these codes with the proprietary Florida Building Code™ Approval Site, found at www.thermatru.com.

The site offers everything builders, architects and contractors need to know to design and install entryways and patio doors with hurricane-level performance. Key elements include:

• Product Approvals and Engineering Certificates
• Installation Instructions and CAD Drawings
• Florida Building Code Summary
• Florida Wind Map and Typical Wind Loads
• Wind Load Calculator

Builder Partnerships Extend Beyond the Sale

Builders can create visibility for the homes they build by partnering with their distributors and dealers on co-op advertising programs. The 2005 co-op advertising program has been updated with the new "Truly Better" ad campaign with an area for a builder's imprint and is available on the Web site or Therma-Tru ad planner. Therma-Tru distributors and dealers can provide advertising co-op funds for media advertising, promotional functions, billboards for new developments, jobsite signs and other marketing tools.

Not only does Therma-Tru provide builders innovative products and marketing resources, it sets the industry standard for business services and support. Therma-Tru's full system warranty allows builders and contractors to install Therma-Tru door systems with confidence. Therma-Tru's national distribution network helps builders get the products they need, when they need them. Therma-Tru also offers a dedicated builder hotline at 800-4-BUILDER (800-428-4537) and technical support center at 800-537-8827 to ensure builders get the installation information and business support they demand.
