Therma-Tru Introduces Educational Microsite and Video Making it Easy for Homeowners to Take Advantage of Energy Savings and Earn Up to $1,500

Maumee, OHIO, (Oct. 27, 2009) - To help homeowners better understand the energy tax credit and more quickly recoup up to $1,500, Therma-Tru has launched an educational microsite and YouTube video on Through the microsite and video, Therma-Tru simplifies the tax credit, provides the tools needed to claim the credit and offers a frequently asked questions section so homeowners can easily find the answers they need.

On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that provides tax incentives for homeowners to make energy-efficient home improvements. As part of this economic stimulus package, homeowners are eligible to receive a tax credit equal to 30 percent of the product cost — up to $1,500 per household for all improvements combined — when they purchase and install qualified products now through December 31, 2010.

As more and more consumers seek out information online through social media sites and networks, Therma-Tru launched and produced the short, easy-to-understand video to simplify the tax credit and how to participate. The video can also be accessed on YouTube, which according to a recent report by ComScore, is among the top Web sites Internet visitors use to search for information. The video is brief and visual so viewers can quickly obtain the information they need and share it with friends and family.

Therma-Tru is pleased to offer consumers a variety of energy-efficient products that qualify for this federal tax credit. In fact, most Therma-Tru entry and patio doors do qualify by having a U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30 or lower, which is a measure of a product’s energy efficiency. To be eligible for the energy tax credit, qualified products must be purchased and installed in the taxpayer’s principal residence now through 2010.

Homeowners are encouraged to save the sales receipt and the Manufacturer’s Certification Statement, which can be found on Therma-Tru’s Web site, for tax record keeping purposes. The tax credit must be claimed for the year the qualified product was purchased and installed.*
